A senior official in the Sana’a government hinted at a direction to take new qualitative military and economic measures and options to confront the continued siege imposed by the Saudi regime on the sovereign ports of the Republic of Yemen.Sana’a – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:This hint came on the tongue of a member of the Shura Council and a member of the Political Bureau of the Ansar Allah movement, Hazam Al-Asad, who said in a post on the “X” platform: “Many Yemenis see that it is unacceptable to continue Saudi Arabia’s export of its oil through the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandeb, while it continues to besiege the ports and airports of the Yemeni people.”This explicit threat to target Saudi Arabia’s energy artery and impose an economic stranglehold on Riyadh comes following the success of an Iranian aircraft, last Friday, in breaking the siege imposed on Sana’a International Airport and landing there, amid regional and international anticipation of how the situation will evolve following this strategic development in the equation of imposing and breaking the siege. The latest hint issued by officials in Sana’a regarding targeting Saudi oil exports through the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait represents a strategic shift in managing the conflict with Riyadh, relying on a track record in which Yemeni forces have proven their full ability to impose their will in this sensitive international maritime passage.Today’s Yemeni threat does not come from a vacuum but is based on a “proven deterrence equation” through which Sana’a succeeded in completely strangling “Israeli” navigation during the battle to support Gaza, imposing a strict naval blockade that major international powers, led by the United States and Britain, were unable to break or secure protection for ships heading to the Zionist entity through their naval alliances. In the face of continued Saudi intransigence and Riyadh’s insistence on holding the humanitarian and economic files hostage to the policy of prolonged siege, Sana’a appears closer than ever to activating this naval card to break the deadlock; which is entirely consistent with the content of the recent statement by the Yemeni Armed Forces. The statement drew clear red lines for the Saudi side, warning it of the consequences of committing any aggression or violation of Yemeni airspace, and affirming that any such adventure will be met with a comprehensive and direct response targeting Saudi airports and vital interests on land and sea alike. The military wording also carried a decisive resolve not to accept the continuation of the siege “indefinitely,” and to move towards taking all legitimate steps to end the economic suffering of the Yemeni people, placing Saudi Arabia’s energy artery in the eye of the coming storm if Saudi intransigence continues.
