Reuters news agency reported on Monday that Saudi Aramco has extended the shutdown of the Jizan oil refinery until August 30, after having initially set August 15 as a preliminary date for partial restart, following damage caused by Sana’a forces’ targeting.Exclusive Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:Sources indicated that the Sana’a forces’ attack on July 27 damaged the Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) complex and the refinery’s tank area, leading to its complete shutdown.The gasification unit is a key component of the refinery, used to produce electricity and industrial gases from oil refining residues. The sources indicated that its damage widely affects the operating system.The Saudi Ministry of Energy had announced at the time that it had extinguished a fire that broke out in one of the refinery’s facilities. The extension of the shutdown period reflects the extent of damage to the facility.The Jizan refinery has a production capacity of about 400,000 barrels per day and entered service in 2021 with investments of about $21 billion.
