Civil defense teams in the Gaza Strip recovered 11 bodies from under the rubble of the Al-Sawafiri house in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City on Wednesday evening, after three days of continuous fieldwork.
Mohammed Abu Dan, the executive supervisor of the martyrs’ recovery operation at the Civil Defense in Gaza, explained that the specialized teams had completed their work at the Al-Sawafiri house and moved to another location within Gaza City to continue search and recovery operations.
This operation is part of the “Martyrs’ Recovery from Under the Rubble” project implemented by the Civil Defense to address the aftermath of the destruction and extract the remains of victims, despite field difficulties and a shortage of resources and necessary equipment.
Earlier, civil defense teams conducted a field survey of eight completely destroyed houses, where it is believed that the remains of approximately 170 martyrs are buried under the rubble.
According to those who participated in the survey, the field inspections aim to determine intervention priorities, coordinate technical and engineering efforts, and provide the necessary equipment to begin search and recovery operations. The field teams are continuing their work within the project with the aim of extracting all the remains of the martyrs from under the rubble and handing them over to their families, in preparation for completing the procedures for their dignified burial.
