The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip expressed grave concern over the escalating forced displacement and the damage to hundreds of tents and homes previously targeted by Israeli airstrikes in the vicinity of the “Yellow Line.”
In a statement released Monday, the agency said that “the massive bombings and indiscriminate gunfire carried out daily by the Israeli occupation against civilians and the remaining homes have led to the repeated displacement of dozens of families, the cracking of houses, and the destruction of tents belonging to displaced persons.”
The statement specified that the areas experiencing repeated attacks include “Shuja’iyya, Tuffah, and Zeitoun in eastern Gaza City, the area surrounding Bani Suheila roundabout, the area east of the Hamad City towers, and the eastern part of Khan Younis.”
The statement added that the continuation of this aggression “has exacerbated the suffering of thousands of displaced people, forcing them to seek new shelter,” warning that this “puts them at risk of their homes collapsing due to the damage they have sustained.”
Every day, the areas controlled by the Israeli army in eastern Gaza, designated as the “Yellow Line,” witness the demolition of remaining structures and buildings.
This line separates the areas where Palestinians are permitted to reside in the west from the areas occupied by the Israeli army in the east, which Tel Aviv estimates constitute approximately 63 percent of the Gaza Strip.
These warnings from the Civil Defense come three years after the start of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip in October 2013, and more than a year after the ceasefire agreement was declared.
