A 51-year-old Algerian man died last Sunday in the United Kingdom while being held in a detention center for migrants awaiting his deportation from Heathrow Airport in London. According to the British newspaper “The Independent”, on Friday, the death was announced by the British Interior Ministry, and its spokesman said; “Our thoughts are with his next of kin at this sad time”. “As with any death in detention, the police services were informed and the case was referred to the Prison Ombudsman and surveillance”, the spokesman added. He explained; “no further comments will be made, at a time when investigations continue”. The source which spoke to “The independent” neither specified the facts of the death, nor mentioned the identity of the diseased, but it said that his family was informed about his death.
