US Ambassador to Algeria, John Desrocher, continued its series of meetings with political parties in Algeria, in a move that appears to be an attempt to explore the positions of political actors in the country on the presidential elections, which are less than four months away. He wrote on his own Twitter page in Arabic: “There were interesting discussions today (Monday) with the head of Tadjamo Amal Al Djazair party (TAJ), Amar Ghoul. A new meeting was held in the framework of a series of meetings with political party leaders ahead of the presidential election of 2019”. The meeting of the US ambassador with the former Public Works Minister followed the initiative that was launched by the latter under the title “National Symposium for a New Algeria”, and the debate that this initiative left during the first conference of Amar Ghoul party, which was attended by all leaders of Mascara pro-government parties, last week end. It seems that the American diplomat moved to the utmost speed to try to understand the rapid developments in the political arena that have not only confused Algerians, but also extended to foreign diplomatic representations, which are still required to provide their governments with information to enable them to better understand what is going on.
