Testimonies from residents of the Gaza Strip confirm that the reality on the ground is completely different from the ceasefire agreement signed 300 days ago, on October 10, 2015, following a period of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel, mediated by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar.
The Israeli occupation’s failure to implement the agreement has exacerbated the already difficult lives of Gazans, with daily bombardments, the closure of crossings, and the ongoing siege. This has made their lives more dangerous than ever, despite the cessation of major military operations.
According to the Government Media Office in Gaza, Israeli violations of the agreement included:
4,019 violations by the Israeli army.
159 arrests.
10,703 travelers were allowed to leave Gaza out of the 27,400 permitted under the agreement.
63,000 trucks entered the Gaza Strip out of the 180,000 that were supposed to enter.
Speaking to the “Voices from Gaza” segment, one resident described the situation as “extremely dangerous,” emphasizing that the occupation forces no longer adhere to any limits, bombing homes and streets as if the ceasefire were “merely a media stunt with no impact on the ground and no real implementation.”
A young man confirmed that the war had ended “in the media,” but not in reality. The entire Gaza Strip has become fair game for the occupation forces, and any place can be targeted, leaving everyone gripped by fear, especially families living under the weight of daily Israeli threats.
In the same vein, another resident expressed his “only” wish: for security and safety. However, he believes this is impossible as long as the occupation continues to target cars and pedestrians.
In a scene reflecting the depth of the tragedy, a young man asserted that he has a 100% realistic chance he will not return to his children from any outing. He pointed out that the continuous Israeli bombing and ongoing violations make the people of Gaza feel as though they are living as if they are dead, yet they are forced to go out to provide for their families. One resident summarized the suffering as encompassing everything, but emphasized that the greatest crisis lies in the scarcity of potable water. He described the search for it as a long and arduous journey, as if life in Gaza has become devoid of the most basic necessities for survival. Since the outbreak of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the number of martyrs has risen to 73,381, in addition to tens of thousands of wounded and injured.
