Civil defense teams in the Gaza Strip concluded their search operations under the rubble of the Karam residential building in Gaza City on Saturday, after recovering the remains of 19 martyrs, most of whom were women and children.
Colonel Muhammad Abu Dan, the executive supervisor of the martyrs’ recovery operation, announced the completion of the work at the building, located on Al-Sina’a Street, following four days of continuous field efforts.
The search operations resulted in the recovery of the remains of 19 martyrs, including 8 women and 4 children. The teams continued their work under difficult field conditions and with limited resources.
Abu Dan praised the efforts of the civil defense teams, given the severe shortage of equipment and tools needed to reach and recover the martyrs’ bodies from under the rubble.
He affirmed the continuation of the martyrs’ recovery project, noting that specialized teams were heading to another location within Gaza City to begin search and recovery operations. Civil defense and ambulance crews continue to recover bodies from targeted sites across the Gaza Strip, facing significant challenges due to widespread destruction and a shortage of heavy equipment and resources needed to reach those trapped under the rubble.
Relevant authorities estimate that approximately 15,000 bodies remain buried under the rubble of destroyed buildings in the Gaza Strip, inaccessible to civil defense and medical teams.
