The Palestinian Center for Human Rights stated that civilians in the Gaza Strip continue to face the risk of death and injury due to ongoing Israeli attacks targeting areas where civilians and displaced persons are concentrated. These attacks include targeting civilian vehicles and civilians in transit, and firing on tents of displaced persons, confirming that civilians remain under direct threat even in areas where they have sought refuge.
The Center called on the international community to fulfill its legal obligations to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip and to take immediate and effective measures to stop Israeli attacks on civilians and civilian objects. It also urged the international community to take concrete steps to ensure accountability for those responsible for these crimes, guaranteeing that perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide do not escape punishment. In a related development, the Ministry of Health announced that 45 patients and 60 of their companions departed for medical treatment abroad via the Rafah border crossing. The Ministry reiterated its demand for facilitating the evacuation of patients, especially critical cases that cannot be postponed. The occupation authorities impose strict restrictions on Gaza patients leaving for treatment abroad, allowing only a few per week to travel, while hospitals suffer from a severe crisis and a large shortage of medicines and medical supplies, while many of them have been forced to stop working either because they were destroyed or because they are located within the “yellow line” areas, or because of a shortage of fuel.
