Physicians for Human Rights in Israel confirmed on Thursday that acts of genocide in Gaza continue in various ways, including causing the deaths of 1,570 patients who were awaiting evacuation for treatment abroad, while the Gaza Strip remains without a single fully functioning hospital a year after the ceasefire.
In a report prepared a year after the ceasefire was declared, the organization stated, “The Gaza Strip still does not have a single fully operational hospital.”
The report comes nearly a year after the ceasefire went into effect in October 2025. The organization says that this period has not witnessed a genuine recovery of the health system in Gaza, despite a limited increase in the number of hospitals that have partially resumed operations.
The organization added, “The number of intensive care beds has practically remained unchanged, and the shortage of essential medicines and medical supplies has worsened, while thousands of patients are still deprived of life-saving treatments that are unavailable in the Strip.”
The report compares the current situation with the situation before October 2023, as well as with the situation at the start of the ceasefire in October 2025.
The organization stated that “the ceasefire did not provide the necessary conditions for the recovery of the health system in Gaza; in fact, the situation has deteriorated in a number of vital areas.”
It added, “There is not a single hospital operating at full capacity; In October 2025, 14 out of 36 hospitals were partially operational, and after about a year the number rose to 20, but none of them are still able to operate fully.
