US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that his country is facing difficult conditions in the region that it has not witnessed since the 1970s.
Blinken’s statements coincide with reports of the failure of the Biden administration’s security and military teams to determine steps to respond to operations that targeted US forces, including the recent attack on the Al-Tanf military base on the Jordanian Syrian border, where 40 people were killed and injured in a drone attack claimed by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq.
The American newspaper “Politico” quoted White House officials as saying that Biden has given his security and military team two more days to prepare a new plan that does not involve expanding the scope of confrontation in the region.
According to sources, Biden has instructed his team to have a specific plan that includes targeting Iranian advisors in Iraq and Syria, as well as Iranian oil installations in the Gulf, which seemingly implies piracy of oil ships.
Earlier, the US Department of Defense presented a plan to respond to the recent attack on President Biden, alongside media reports of the movement of strategic bombers towards the Middle East, indicating Biden’s rejection of the plan.
In this context, former US Ambassador to Yemen Gerald Feierstein stated that his country will not engage in direct confrontations with Iran, confirming that it will seek de-escalation in the near future, in confirmation of reports that talk about his country’s pressure on Israel to implement a new agreement in Gaza.
