Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Reuters quoted a spokesman for the “Houthis” as confirming that there was no truce, clarifying that Yemen had only consented to the towing of the oil tanker “SOUNION”, which was targeted by Yemeni forces last weekend and has been on fire until today.
The approval from Sana’a to withdraw the ship flying the Greek flag came after international and regional contacts, as explained by the head of the negotiating delegation, Mohammed Abdul Salam.
These statements come hours after the Iranian mission to the United Nations spoke about the approval of what it described as the “Houthis” to a temporary truce in the Red Sea.
Although the Iranian delegation’s statements, which play a mediating role in Yemen due to its good relations with Sana’a, indicated that Abdul Salam’s approval was for the withdrawal of the European ship, it was interpreted as a truce.
Yemen has previously rejected all American and Western temptations to stop its operations supporting Gaza in the Red Sea.
Yemen links this step to stopping the war and lifting the siege on Gaza.
