The World Food Programme (WFP) has revealed that the hunger crisis is worsening across the Gaza Strip, confirming that the prices of basic food items have increased by more than 1,000% compared to pre-Israeli war levels on Gaza.
This came in a statement highlighting the hunger crisis and the danger of continued war and the Israeli blockade on Palestinians across Gaza, especially in the north, published by the United Nations on its website on Friday evening.Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner-general of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said the ongoing military operation in northern Gaza has displaced 130,000 people over the past seven weeks.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also warned that ongoing hostilities across the Strip continue to put Palestinians at grave risk, especially civilians trying to survive under the Israeli blockade in the northern Gaza governorate.
